Labor Law Update Seminar - Each January the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce and the California Employment Development Department jointly sponsor a seminar to help employers avoid common mistales by learning how new laws are likely to affect their businesses. Attorney Daniel K. Klingenberger (Dowling, Aaron and Keeler, Inc.), who presents the seminar, has litigated hundreds of stage and federal employment law cases, defending employers against both single and multiple plaintiffs. The seminar's cost is $20 per Chamber member, $25 per nonmember. Please register ahead of time by calling the Chamber, 760-375-8331; the cost at the door is $30.
Sexual Harrasment Training - Periodic interactive instruction by attorney Daniel K. Klingenberger is designed to meet the requirements of AB 1825, which mandates that employers with 50 employees or more give sexual harassment training to new supervisors with in six months of starting their supervisory job. Typically, two sessions of the same training are offered, with the morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session from 1 to 3 p.m. The registration fee is $80 per Chamber member or $90 per nonmember. To learn more, including date and place of the next seminar, call the Chamber, 760-375-8331.
Other Training Opportunities - The Chamber offers other training as the need or the opportunity arises. Examples of seminars given in recent years are an online series on Internet marketing procedures, starting a child care business workshop and a class explaining the state's food facility grading ordinance.
